Neoair PLUS Air Purifier and Air Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)On the surface, this Neoair Plus has a ok spec. It is $300 for a compact purifier that has a low annual filter replacement cost of ~$60, a low power consumption of 70 Watts, not too noisy at 46 dB, and serving up to 600 square feet with a fan speed of 200 CFM.Now what can be wrong with such a purifier?Well, the problem is that NeoAir Plus is far weaker than it appears.The 200 CFM (cubic feet per minute) fan speed is not very powerful comparing to its competitors. Most purifiers on the market participate in the AHAM (Association Home Appliance Manufacturers) certification to get three CADR values (Clean Air Delivery Rating). There are 3 CADR values for smoke, dust and pollen removal rates. Neoair did not get certified and only reports its fan speed (200 CFM). This is very troubling because a fan speed does not indicate the cleaning power of a purifier. For instance, your typical fan at home has a CFM fan speed, but it has a "ZERO" CADR since it cannot purify air. The CADR of Neoair Plus is probably 200 at its best (where CADR = CFM). Honeywell 50250 has a certified 250 CADR and is sold at $150. 3M Filtrete FAP03-RC has an averaged 290 CADR and is $200. Whirlpool AP450 has an averaged 315 CADR and is $250. All three are cheaper and more powerful than Neoair Plus.

What also concern me is some of the marketing and customer services of this young company. It is rather important to point out that when Neoair claims this unit can serve 600 square feet, the statement is overrated and misleading. The industrial guideline written by the AHAM is to use the smoke CADR and a 5 air change per hour to estimate the usage space. While Honeywell, 3M, and Whirlpool purifiers are more powerful, they are suggested for a smaller usage space of 375, 348, 500 square feet, respectively. This is because these companies follow the standard guideline.(Even through 3M filtrete has a higher pollen and dust CADRs than the Honeywell 50250, 3M has a lower smoke CADR and therefore a lower recommended floor space) Using the standard definition, this Neoair Plus should be used for a 300 sq ft, half of its advertised 600 sq ft. The fact that Neoair did not go to an independent organization to certify their CADR should raise some eyebrows. This misleading 600 sq ft advertising tactic sure seems like a way to prey on average customers. Please understand that, unlike CADR, there is no legal guideline for defining the recommended floor space.Thus, companies can deviate from the standard calculation with no legal consequence.In this case, NeoAir used a 2.5 air change per hour for its calculation -- instead of 5.In addition, this company customer service is somewhat lacking. They do not seem to know their products well when I contact them.

Finally, even if you believe Neoair made a honest mistake, you have to wonder why you want to pay more for a weaker purifier. Let's just take Whirlpool AP450 as a comparison again.Whirlpool AP450 is rated as the number ONE purifier by Consumer Reports. Neoair Plus is $300 and Whirlpool AP450 is $250. Neoair Plus has a cleaning power of 200 CADR at best and Whirlpool has an averaged 315 CADR.Alternatively, you can get two Honeywell 50250 for the same price as Neoair Plus.So, here is another choice: one Neoair for ~200 CADR or two Honeywell for a total 500 CADR.I am simply wondering: Can someone honestly justify a purchase of Neoair Plus in light of all of these superior purifiers on the markets which also happens to have better support?

**For people who are interested here is the math. The recommended floor space is calculated based on a 8 feet ceiling height and a 5 air-change per hour condition. Let's uses Honeywell 50250 as an example. It has a 250 CADR which translates to a 250 cubic feet per minute cleaning speed or 15000 cu ft per hour. Now divides 15000 cu ft per hour by a 8 ft ceiling and by a 5 air change per hour will result a 375 floor space. A shortcut is to simply multiple the CADR value by "1.5".e.g.: 250CADR X 1.5 = 375 sq ft **

(More customer reviews)I bought this unit and I like it because it is very quiet so that I can sleep with no problem.Also, it has LED light warning so that if my room air is not good, red light shows on top left hole.If my room air is clean, it gives blue light.It works very fast with super strong air pump.My office is in downtown and the air quality is pretty bad.When I smoke in the office, this coway air gets rid of smoking smell so good, nobody notices next morning.I think this coway air is a competitor of iq air, blu air, and rabbit air.But, I like this one since it has nice design and very quiet.

Pros:
- 5 year warranty
- upto 2~3 year filter life
- nice design
- very quiet and automatic settings
- LED warning light for air quality
- works good for pollen
- no smoking smell

Cons:
- no remote control, if you are lazy.but, you can setup for automatic setting so when it is dark, it slows down.
- small size, if you think bigger size works better.I think it is good up to 300 sq ft.

If you are looking for something under $100, this product is more.But, you pay for the price.If you are looking for iq air or blu air, coway air purifier is reasonable and works very good for allergy problem and flu.

Pros: very good fan motor, silent and good filter capacity.
Cons: the filter check indicator did not work well since 4th month and the manufacturer want me to send it in at my expense to have issue resolved. The fan works as desired thus i will live with the error light.
Other down side filters cost $160 to replace.

Tried all types of air purifiers / odor removers, and this has got to be the best system out there. Amazingly quiet while being able to push through and purify high volumes of air, even at the lowest setting, which is absolutely silent. In our apartment, normally we had problems with kitchen air after cooking, especially frying food; with this system, food / grease odor is reduced within 10-20 minutes, and eliminted COMPLETELY in the next hour or so. I could not detect a hint of food odor after 2 hours. Living in the city, we have air problems. Now, interior air is drastically improved along with my persistent sinus issues. I replaced every other air purifiers in my apartment with rabbit air minusA2's. The unit is very easy on the eye and non-obtrusive. And once again, when the unit is on one of the lower settings, it is completely inaudible.

I contacted Rabbit Air support for some billing issues and some technical issues, and was greeted very courteously and professionally. The support staffs were very knowledgeable and helpful. I am absolutely happy with this air purifier and highly recommend to anyone who is seriously looking for ways to improve air quality and odor removal.

pros: silent, very effective at odor removal and air purification, most aesthetically pleasing system out there, one of the thinnest profile out there, and it truely works

cons: a bit pricey, filter replacement cost

(More customer reviews)Since moving to Virginia, I spend at least a month every spring feeling like I'm waking up with a bad cold. I had promised myself that this year, I would try a good-quality air purifier. I debated among the Sharp FP-N60CX Plasma Cluster Air Purifier, the Mitsubishi PlasmaPure Quiet HEPA Air Purifier, and this one. In the end, they all had high ratings, and I am sure they'd all have worked well, but I liked the looks of this one. Turns out, it looks even cooler in person. More importantly, I wake up feeling great. Also, it's inaudible on the night setting which is important since it's in my bedroom. The smell sensor really works - drop a new pile of laundry near it and it will go off because of that dryer sheet smell. My room is just so much nicer now and although it can't follow me around and take care of my allergies the rest of the day, it let's me get a good night's sleep, which is all I could ask for. To get into the technical side of it, there are two sensors - one for pollen/dust and one for smells. There are indicators on the front which show the mode the unit is in (such as turbo, pollen, night) as well as levels indicators of smell on one side and pollen on the other. I also need to mention that the distributor, SPARO, is wonderful. I asked them by email before my order shipped to send silver instead of white. They responded quickly that that was no problem. Then I let them know that two buttons on my remote didn't work, and they responded immediately that they were overnighting a new one, which they did. Couldn't be happier with them or the product! You can't go wrong with this.
